How do you get people to start cycling to work?
The Smart Commute – Cycle 2 Work’s strategy is to work with individual companies, meet with HR departments, arrange for employees to get on the saddle and hold workshops educating people on how to make cycle commuting a part of their routine.
On April 22, The Smart Commute organized the first such company-specific event in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. Over seventy employees of Gilbarco Veeder Root showed up to work early to participate in an eight kilometer ride around the area. Despite not having been on the saddle since childhood, the participants bubbled with enthusiasm.
Here is a short video about the event, including some nice tips on cycling to work in Mumbai by Roshan Mansukhani.
